Anyone who sees our Ernst quickly realizes that he probably could not have run off the line in those days. On the basis of our 1989 VW LT28 Florida we have created an expedition mobile in months of small work, which will hopefully bring us over hill and dale to the destination of our trip. First and foremost, of course, was the idea of what needs to be changed to survive on other than Central European highways. Where the limits were in the LT standard version, we were able to find out during our small test drive to Kaliningrad in December 2016, so we had a good reference value.

So we wanted to be able to drive over rough roads. We thought of snow, potholes and sand as underground, also some mountain ranges would come. We also wanted to be as self-sufficient as possible, and always free ourselves from awkward situations. Stowage space was also a topic we had to think about ...

In short, the list of changes has been getting longer and longer, also, or just, during the conversion.
